Reigate Heath is located in Surrey and was previously notified in 1986 as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Reigate Heath SSSI has now been extended under Section 28B of the Wildlife and Contryside Act 1981 and notified on 30 October 2020.
Reigate Heath is a nationally important site by reason of its lowland acid grassland and dry heath mosaic feature of special interest. This is a nationally rare habitat supporting a wide range of uncommon plants and invertebrates associated with free-draining, sandy soils.
