Consultation on the proposed Seabass Fisheries Management Plan. Ymgynghoriad ar y Cynllun Rheoli Pysgodfa arfaethedig ar gyfer Draenogiaid Môr

Closed 1 Oct 2023

Opened 17 Jul 2023

Overview

The purpose of this consultation is to seek your views on the proposed Bass Fisheries Management Plan (FMP) and the policies and proposed measures it contains. We are also seeking your views on the likely environmental impacts of the Bass FMP set out in the environmental report.

Bass contributes culturally, socially, and economically to coastal communities through, for example, employment and recreational fishing interests. However, a combination of overfishing and poor year class strength (the number of individuals spawned each year) saw a sharp decline in bass stock levels from 2010. In response, a joint UK/EU management approach was implemented in 2015. Since these measures were introduced, there has been a significant increase in spawning stock biomass.

This FMP now sets out a roadmap for future domestic management of bass in English and Welsh waters to ensure bass stocks are maintained at sustainable levels and the benefits of bass fishing can be realised by the communities that depend on them.

Pwrpas yr ymgynghoriad hwn yw gofyn am eich barn ar y Cynllun Rheoli Pysgodfa arfaethedig ar gyfer Draenogiaid Môr, ac ar ei bolisïau a’i fesurau. Rydym hefyd yn gofyn am eich barn ar effeithiau amgylcheddol tebygol Cynllun Rheoli Pysgodfa (FMP) Draenogiaid Môr, a amlinellir yn yr adroddiad amgylcheddol.

Mae draenogiaid môr yn cyfrannu’n ddiwylliannol, yn gymdeithasol ac yn economaidd at gymunedau arfordirol drwy, er enghraifft, cyflogaeth a buddiannau pysgota hamdden. Fodd bynnag, roedd cyfuniad o orbysgota a chryfder dosbarth blwyddyn gwael (nifer yr unigolion sy’n silio bob blwyddyn) wedi arwain at ostyngiad sydyn yn lefelau stoc draenogiaid môr o 2010 ymlaen. Mewn ymateb, cafodd dull rheoli ar y cyd rhwng y DU a’r UE ei roi ar waith yn 2015. Ers cyflwyno’r mesurau hyn, bu cynnydd sylweddol mewn biomas stoc silio.

Mae’r FMP hwn yn nodi map trywydd ar gyfer rheoli draenogiaid môr yn ddomestig yn nyfroedd Cymru a Lloegr yn y dyfodol er mwyn sicrhau bod stociau’n cael eu cynnal ar lefelau cynaliadwy, a bod y cymunedau sy’n dibynnu ar fuddion pysgota draenogiaid môr yn gallu eu gwireddu.
