Consultation on amending allergen information provisions contained within domestic food information legislation for food prepacked for direct sale / Crynodeb o'r ymgynghoriad ar ddiwygio darpariaethau gwybodaeth am alergenau mewn deddfwriaeth gwybodaeth am fwyd ddomestig ar gyfer bwyd wedi'i becynnu ymlaen llaw i'w werthu'n uniongyrchol

Overview

We are launching this consultation on proposed amendments to the domestic Food Information Regulations 2014 (FIR) (England) and parallel FIR regulations in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales relating to allergen information for foods that are prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) to the consumer on the same premises from which they are sold.

Defra, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, Food Standards Scotland (FSS), and the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) are working together in reviewing the current legal framework for allergen information for foods which are PPDS. A number of policy options have been developed to improve the provision of allergen information on which business and consumer groups, enforcement authorities and members of the general public are invited to contribute their views.

Trosolwg

Rydym ni'n lansio'r ymgynghoriad hwn ar ddiwygiadau arfaethedig i Reoliadau domestig Gwybodaeth am Fwyd 2014 (FIR) (Cymru) a rheoliadau FIR cyfochrog yn Lloegr, yr Alban a Gogledd Iwerddon yn ymwneud â gwybodaeth am alergenau ar gyfer bwyd wedi'i becynnu ymlaen llaw i'w werthu'n uniongyrchol i'r defnyddiwr ar yr un safle y caiff ei werthu.

Mae Adran yr Amgylchedd, Bwyd a Materion Gwledig (Defra), yr Asiantaeth Safonau Bwyd (ASB), a'r Adran Iechyd a Gofal Cymdeithasol (DHSC) yn cydweithio i adolygu'r fframwaith cyfreithiol presennol o ran gwybodaeth am alergenau ar gyfer bwyd wedi'i becynnu ymlaen llaw i'w werthu'n uniongyrchol. Mae nifer o ddewisiadau polisi wedi'u datblygu i wella'r ddarpariaeth o wybodaeth am alergenau ac fe wahoddir grwpiau busnes a defnyddwyr, awdurdodau gorfodi ac aelodau'r cyhoedd i rannu eu barn arnynt.

Why We Are Consulting

It is very important that consumers are provided with accurate information about allergenic ingredients in products to allow them to make safe food choices. Continuing fatalities and effects on public health have raised the issue of whether the current regulatory framework for the provision of allergen information for PPDS foods is sufficient to give consumers the information they need to make safe food choices.

Through this consultation we are seeking views on non-regulatory and regulatory policy options to improve the provision of allergen information to consumers for PPDS foods.

How to respond

The consultation document is available to view and download in both English and Welsh at the bottom of this page. You will need to refer to it when providing your response.

We encourage respondents to provide not just their opinions but also the supporting facts and reasoning to inform the evidence base for the development of final proposals. Respondents do not have to answer all the questions and so can choose those of specific interest. Questions which you do not wish to respond to can be left blank.

Please respond by 29 March

Pam ydym ni'n ymgynghori?

Mae'n bwysig iawn fod gan ddefnyddwyr wybodaeth gywir am gynhwysion alergenaidd mewn cynhyrchion, i'w galluogi nhw i wneud dewisiadau bwyd diogel. Mae'r ffaith bod pobl yn dal i farw yn ogystal ag effeithiau ar iechyd y cyhoedd wedi codi'r mater ynghylch a yw'r fframwaith rheoleiddio presennol o ran darparu gwybodaeth am alergenau ar gyfer bwyd wedi'i becynnu ymlaen llaw i'w werthu'n uniongyrchol yn ddigonol er mwyn rhoi'r wybodaeth sydd ei hangen ar ddefnyddwyr iddyn nhw allu gwneud dewisiadau bwyd diogel.

Drwy'r ymgynghoriad hwn, rydym ni'n ceisio barn ar ddewisiadau polisi rheoleiddiol a rhai nad ydynt yn rheoleiddiol i wella'r ddarpariaeth o wybodaeth am alergenau i ddefnyddwyr yng nghyd-destun bwyd wedi'i becynnu ymlaen llaw i'w werthu'n uniongyrchol.

Sut i ymateb

Mae'r ddogfen ymgynghori ar gael i'w gweld a'i lawrlwytho yn Gymraeg ac yn Saesneg ar waelod y dudalen hon. Bydd angen i chi gyfeirio ati wrth gyflwyno eich ymateb.

Rydym ni'n annog ymatebwyr i rannu eu barn, yn ogystal â ffeithiau ategol a'u rhesymeg, er mwyn llywio'r sail dystiolaeth ar gyfer datblygu'r cynigion terfynol. Nid oes rhaid i ymatebwyr ateb yr holl gwestiynau ac felly gallant ddewis y rhai hynny sydd o ddiddordeb penodol iddynt. Cewch adael y cwestiynau hynny nad ydych yn dymuno eu hateb yn wag.

Anfonwch eich ymateb erbyn 29 Mawrth

Gallwch gyflwyno eich ymateb drwy'r arolwg ar-lein drwy glicio'r botwm isod. Os na allwch ymateb ar-lein, gallwch ofyn am gopi o'r arolwg a ffurflen ymateb drwy anfon e-bost at allergenlabellingreview@defra.gsi.gov.uk. Gallwch hefyd anfon ymholiadau ac arolygon wedi'u cwblhau i'r cyfeiriad hwn.
