Natural England consulted with the owners and interested parties on the notification of Oridge Street Meadows Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) on 10 January 2019.

One objection was received relating to the notification of this land under Section 28 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Three representations of support were also received through the online consultation.

Natural England Board considered the objection and representations at its meeting on 11 September 2019 and approved confirmation of the notification of Oridge Street Meadows SSSI without modification.

Overview
Oridge Street Meadows is located west of the River Severn in Gloucestershire. It is notified on 10 January 2019 as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) as the best example of species-rich lowland meadow grassland in this area. It covers an area of 2.62 ha. We are now assessing the response to the consultation and will be making a recommendation to the Board of Natural England in due course. Natural England has to make a decision to either confirm or withdraw this notification by 9 Oct 2019 or the notification will cease to exist.
