Defra Guidance & Data Reforms: Costs, Benefits and Early Feedback

Closed 10 Feb 2016

Opened 17 Dec 2015

Overview

Inviting views on the costs and benefits to business and civil society from reform of Defra guidance and information requests, plus feedback from stakeholders on their recent experience of using Defra online guidance and reporting information to Defra and its agencies.

Over time, the accumulation of guidance documents and information requirements by Defra and its agencies has made it difficult for businesses, particularly small businesses, to understand and comply with the relevant regulations or to use the relevant services. The consultation seeks views on the intended effects on business and civil society from reforms to Defra Guidance and Data, contained in the Consultation Impact Assessment: Defra Guidance & Data Reforms.

Why your views matter

Your views and comments on this Impact Assessment are essential for assessing the impact to business and civil society from Defra ‘smarter’ guidance and data reforms. Responses to the consultation will help shape our understanding on the scale of costs and benefits to business from this non-regulatory initiative. Questions regarding the assumptions used in developing the estimates of costs and benefits resulting from these reforms can be found in Part B of the consultation survey. Defra also welcomes suggestions from stakeholder for additional sources of evidence.

Defra would also like to invite feedback from stakeholders on their recent experience of using Defra guidance and reporting information to Defra and its agencies. These questions can be found in Part C and Part D of the consultation.

What happens next

Any responses you send us will be seen in full by Defra staff dealing with the issues which this consultation is about. It may also be seen by other Defra staff to help them plan future consultations.

When this consultation ends, we will summarise all responses and place this summary online available through our website at www.gov.uk. This summary will include a list of names of organisations that responded but not people’s personal names, addresses or other contact details. If you require a hard copy of the summary, or have any other enquiries, please contact us by email at: dataandguidance@defra.gsi.gov.uk
