Call for Views: Draft UK Report on the Protocol on Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers
Overview
Decision I/5 on reporting requirements of the Kiev Protocol on Pollutant Releases and Transfer Registers (PRTRs) requires that Parties to the Protocol prepare a national implementation report. The Decision further requires that the report be prepared in consultation with the public. The draft report which is attached to this consultation has been prepared by Defra in consultation with the devolved administrations. We seek views on the content of the draft report including the public's experience of how the Protocol has been implemented.
Why your views matter
Access to infomation and public participation in environmental decision making are key pillars of the Kiev Protocol. We want to hear from the public about how effective the UK implementation of the Protocol is. The draft report we have prepared follows the format as set out in Decision I/5 on reporting requirements. We would like to hear from the public about all aspects of the report . We are particularly interested to hear views about the UK PRTR site at http://prtr.defra.gov.uk/index .
What happens next
We make every effort in taking your views into account before finalising the report which needs to be deposited with the secretariat of the Protocol at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
